
An elderly crypto whale known as "HEX 19" recently fell victim to a slow-moving hack, losing nearly $4.5 million in staked HEX tokens over multiple years. Initially, it appeared as though the whale was cashing out voluntarily, but it soon became clear that he had become a victim of a major exploit orchestrated by cyber attackers.
The hack, which began in November 2021, involved multiple phishing wallets and was ultimately traced back to an online entity known as "Konpyl," a threat actor familiar to crypto investigators.
