Stablecoin giant Tether is gearing up to launch Tether AI, an innovative artificial intelligence platform that promises to revolutionize the way users interact with cryptocurrencies like USDt and Bitcoin. Paolo Ardoino, the CEO of Tether, recently revealed some exciting details about the upcoming Tether AI platform in a post on X.

Tether AI is set to offer "personal infinite intelligence" and will enable users to conduct transactions directly through a peer-to-peer (P2P) network using USDt and Bitcoin. The platform is slated to be integrated with major cryptocurrencies, allowing for seamless and secure payments.

Ardoino emphasized that Tether AI will be a decentralized platform that does not rely on traditional application programming interface (API) keys or centralized control points. Instead, the AI platform will operate on an open-source AI runtime that runs on an unstoppable P2P network, making it fully modular and composable. Moreover, Tether AI will be capable of adapting and evolving on any hardware and device, providing users with flexibility and convenience.

Furthermore, Tether AI's P2P crypto payments will be powered by the company's open-source wallet development kit (WDK), which was launched in November 2024. The WDK enables developers to create mobile, desktop, and web wallet applications that support self-custodial holding of USDt and Bitcoin. This self-custodial approach gives users complete control over their assets, eliminating the need for third-party custodians.

Tether's foray into artificial intelligence with the Tether AI platform is part of the company's broader strategy to expand its presence in the AI space. In a move to diversify its offerings beyond stablecoin development, Tether announced the establishment of Tether Data, a dedicated division focused on AI and P2P development, in April 2024.

Ardoino also shared that Tether AI aims to provide the foundational technology needed to realize the vision of artificial intelligence as described by renowned science fiction author Isaac Asimov. Asimov's works, such as "I, Robot" and "The Robot Series," have influenced the way we think about AI, and Ardoino believes that AI will play a significant role in shaping the future.
