Cryptocurrency exchange HashKey has made a significant breakthrough by receiving approval from Hong Kong regulators to introduce staking services. This development could potentially expand the institutional appeal of proof-of-stake investments, particularly in the context of spot Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

The approval, granted on April 10, comes after the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) provided regulatory guidance on staking services to Licensed Virtual Asset Trading Platforms (VATPs) and authorized funds. HashKey, through a post on social media, announced that it has become one of the first regulated exchanges in Hong Kong to offer staking services.
